OUR CHALLENGES
AND COMPETITIONS
Pushing boundaries. Creating champions.
Seeking to solve tomorrow’s challenges today, at ASPIRE we will issue high profile competitions annually - locally and internationally - to identify the talented research teams and ground-breaking projects with the best potential to develop transformational technologies against a defined set of parameters.
Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League
Abu Dhabi-UAE: 17th March 2023 – In line with its vision of building a world-class research and development (R&D) hub in Abu Dhabi, ASPIRE, has today announced the launch of the world’s largest autonomous racing league. The league will kick off with the autonomous car race set to happen in Q2 of 2024.
MBZIRC Maritime Grand Challenge
Maritime Grand Challenge
In 2024, the MBZIRC Maritime Grand Challenge will bring together universities, research institutions, and innovators from all over the world to find practical solutions to global maritime security challenges such as illegal fishing, piracy, smuggling, and human trafficking.
In the first experiment of its kind, teams will be required to pioneer heterogeneous collaboration between unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned surface vehicles and perform complex navigation and manipulation tasks in a GNSS-denied environment off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion
Feed the Next Billion
At ASPIRE, we are proud to partner with XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion – a $15M competition incentivizing teams to produce chicken and fish alternatives that replicate or outperform conventional protein in structure, versatility, sensory properties, and nutritional profile, while having a lower comparable environmental footprint.
The winning team – which will be announced in early 2024 – must develop multiple consistent cuts of raw chicken breast or fish fillet (weighing in at 115g or 4oz each). The competition is open to anyone, anywhere, including food scientists, technologists, and innovators.
